Hi there! I am Studyfin. Let's explore how lines and shapes make art come alive!
Look around you! We can see lines and shapes everywhere in nature and in our homes. Artists find these elements in the environment and use them to make beautiful art.
Lines can be straight, wavy, or zig-zag. When a line closes, it makes a shape! We can use these lines to draw simple shapes like circles, squares, and triangles.
We can repeat lines and shapes to make a pattern. Repeating shapes creates a fun rhythm, and placing them evenly creates balance in our artwork.
✏️ Worked example
Let us design a balanced artwork step-by-step. We want to use three different shapes and repeat them to make a pattern.
First, we draw a straight line right across the middle of our paper to create balance.
Next, we draw a circle on the left side and a circle on the right side so both sides look equal.
Then, we add a bright yellow triangle next to each circle to start our pattern.
Last, we color the background with a soft texture to make our shapes pop!
