Hi there! Today we will explore famous artists from different times and places.
Artists paint the world around them. They use colors and shapes to show their culture. Some artists lived long ago, and some live today.
Long ago, Vincent van Gogh painted bright yellow sunflowers in France. He used thick, messy paint to show his feelings.
Today, Pacita Abad from the Philippines is famous for her bright, sewn art. She used many colors and beads to celebrate her global travels.
✏️ Worked example

- Look at the materials. Van Gogh used oil paint on flat canvas. Abad used colorful fabric, thread, and beads.
- Look at the colors. Both artists loved bright, warm colors like yellow and red.
- Think about their homes. Van Gogh painted quiet fields in Europe. Abad showed the busy, bright colors of tropical islands.
- Find what is the same. Both artists used thick textures you can almost feel with your fingers.
