Hi there! I am Studyfin, your coding tutor. Today, we will learn how to type safely and fast!
When you type on a computer, your body needs to be in a safe position. This is called ergonomics. It helps you type fast without hurting your hands or back.
First, keep your back straight like a tall tree. Your feet should sit flat on the floor. This good posture keeps your neck and back from getting tired.
Next, let your wrists float gently above the keyboard. Do not rest them on the desk while you type. Keep your elbows bent at a nice ninety-degree angle.
✏️ Worked example
Let us practice checking our own typing posture. Imagine you are sitting at your computer right now. How can you make sure your body is in the correct position?
Look at your chair. Sit all the way back so your spine has support.
Check your feet. Place both feet flat on the floor, not crossed or tucked under you.
Relax your shoulders. Let your upper arms hang naturally by your sides.
Hold your hands over the keys. Make sure your wrists are straight and not bending downward.
Take a deep breath and start typing softly without pressing too hard!
