Hi there! I am Studyfin. Today we will learn how one event makes another event happen!
Every story has causes and effects. A cause is why something happens. An effect is what happens because of it.

Let us look at a simple example. Think about rain. The rain is the cause. The wet ground is the effect.
We can find these in informational texts too. Authors use words like 'because' and 'so' to show these links.
✏️ Worked example
Read this short passage: 'The sun was very hot. The ice cream melted quickly.' Let us find the cause and the effect.
- First, ask: What happened? The ice cream melted.
- Next, ask: Why did it melt? Because the sun was very hot.
- Now, match them. The hot sun is the cause.
- The melted ice cream is the effect.
