Every sentence needs to tell a complete thought. Sometimes, we write sentences that are too short or missing parts. We can add words to make them better.
We can add descriptive words to help our reader see a clear picture. Watch how we add the word 'shiny' to make this sentence pop!
Sometimes we use too many words. We can delete extra words that repeat the same idea. This makes our writing neat and easy to read.
✏️ Worked example
Let us revise this draft sentence to make it better: 'The blue sky was very blue and pretty today.'
Read the sentence out loud. Notice that 'blue' is used two times.
Delete the extra words 'very blue and' to stop repeating the color.
Keep the word 'pretty' to describe the sky.
Check the new sentence: 'The blue sky was pretty today.' It is now clear and strong!
