Grade 4 · English Language Arts · Free lesson

Welcome! Today we will learn how to find the main idea of a text using key details.

Every paragraph has a main idea. The main idea is what the text is mostly about. Key details are small facts that help support that main idea.

to learn

Think of the main idea like a table top. The key details are like the table legs. The legs hold up the main idea so it stands strong.
