Every great story follows a path. This path is called the sequence of events. It is the order of what happens from start to finish.
We can think of a story like a mountain. The rising action is when the story gets exciting. The climax is the very top, where the biggest moment happens.
After the climax, things start to calm down. This is the falling action. Finally, the story ends with the resolution, where the main problem is solved.

Let's analyze the plot of a short story: 'Max the dog lost his favorite bone. He searched the whole yard. Next, he dug under the big bush and found it! Max happily chewed his bone on the grass.' Let's find each part of the sequence.
Find the start: Max loses his bone. This is the beginning of our story.
Find the rising action: Max searches the yard. The excitement is building up!
Find the climax: Max digs under the bush and finds the bone. This is the most exciting moment!
Find the resolution: Max happily chews his bone. The problem is solved, and the story ends.
