Every great story is like a mountain. The characters start at the bottom, climb up to a tricky peak, and then walk back down. This path is called the plot structure.
The climb starts with the rising action. Here, the main characters face problems, and the excitement grows. Next, they reach the climax, which is the most exciting turning point of the whole story.
After the climax, we go down the mountain. The falling action shows the results of the big moment. Finally, the resolution wraps up the story and solves the main problem.
Read this short story and analyze its plot. Identify the rising action, climax, falling action, and resolution: "Leo was terrified of public speaking. Today was his big class speech. As he walked to the front, his heart hammered (Rising Action). He took a deep breath, looked at his classmates, and spoke clearly from his heart (Climax).
