We use two main types of questions. Formal questions are for school reports. Informal questions are for quick, everyday learning.
Good research questions are open-ended. They do not just have a simple 'yes' or 'no' answer. They make you think and search for details.

Imagine your teacher asks you to write a report on honeybees. Let's practice creating a strong, open-ended question for your project.
- Identify the broad topic. In this case, our topic is 'honeybees'.
- Draft a simple, closed question first. For example: 'Do honeybees make honey?' This only needs a 'yes' or 'no' answer, so it is too simple.
- Change the question to make it open-ended. Use words like 'how' or 'why'.
- Write your final, strong research question. A great one is: 'How do honeybees work together to keep their hive safe?'
