Earth has different climate zones. Let us explore how places are alike and different!
A climate is the weather a place has over a long time. Some places are hot and wet. Other places are cold and icy.
The tropical zone is near the middle of Earth. It gets lots of warm sunlight. It stays warm all year and gets heavy rain.
Polar zones are at the top and bottom of Earth. They get weak sunlight. These places are very cold, dry, and icy.
Temperate zones sit in between. They have four clear seasons. They get mild rain and medium warmth.

Compare a tropical climate and a polar climate. How are they different?
- 1. Look at heat: Tropical zones are warm all year. Polar zones are cold all year.
- 2. Look at rain: Tropical zones get lots of rain. Polar zones are dry with cold snow.
- 3. Look at hazards: Tropical zones get big wind storms called hurricanes. Polar zones get ice storms called blizzards.
- 4. Compare plants: Tropical zones have rich green forests. Polar zones have very few plants.
