Welcome! Today we will learn how to locate key capitals and neighboring countries on a map.
A capital city is the main center of government for a state or nation. On maps, a star symbol often marks a capital city. We can locate Texas, state capitals, and national capitals using maps.
Austin is the state capital of Texas, located in the southern region of the United States. Washington, D.C., is the national capital of the United States. It sits along the East Coast.
The United States has two direct bordering countries. Canada lies directly to the north. Mexico borders the United States directly to the south.
