Hi there! I'm Studyfin, your geography guide. Today, we will explore how different places on Earth have unique climates, landforms, and natural resources!
Every place on Earth has a unique physical environment. This environment includes climate, landforms, natural resources, and natural hazards like storms. By comparing these parts, we can see how different regions of our world truly are.

Let us look at two different climate zones: the Tropical Zone and the Polar Zone. The Tropical Zone is near the equator and gets direct sunlight all year. This makes it very warm and wet, which helps thick rainforests grow.
In contrast, the Polar Zone is near the North and South Poles. Here, sunlight strikes at a weak angle, making the climate freezing cold. Instead of lush forests, you find flat, icy landforms and very few plants.
Compare the physical environments of a Tropical Rainforest and a Polar Tundra. Identify at least one similarity and two differences in their climate, landforms, or resources.
- Step 1: Look at the climate of both areas. The rainforest is hot and wet all year. The tundra is cold and dry.
- Step 2: Compare their landforms and plants. The rainforest has tall trees and rich soil. The tundra has flat, frozen ground called permafrost.
- Step 3: Find a similarity between them. Both environments have extreme climates that limit what kinds of crops humans can easily grow there.
- Step 4: Write down your final comparison. Difference 1: Temperature (hot vs. cold). Difference 2: Vegetation (dense forest vs. tiny shrubs). Similarity: Both have harsh conditions for farming.
