Hi! I am Studyfin, your learning buddy. Today we will explore how we feel and how to stay calm!
Every day, we feel different things. You might feel happy, sad, mad, or scared. These are called emotions.

Our bodies tell us how we feel. When you are mad, your heart might beat fast. When you are happy, you smile.
We can use deep breaths to calm down. Slow breathing helps our body feel safe and relaxed.
✏️ Worked example
Sam feels his face get hot and his hands squeeze into fists. He wants to yell. Let us help Sam find his feeling and practice a way to calm down.
- First, look at the clues. Hot face and tight fists are clues for anger.
- Next, name the feeling. Sam is feeling mad.
- Then, choose a tool. Sam can stop and take three slow, deep breaths.
- Last, blow the air out like blowing bubbles. This makes his body feel soft and calm again.
