Hi there! I am Studyfin, your learning buddy. Today, we will learn how sleep and exercise keep our bodies strong and happy!
Our bodies need healthy habits to work well every day. Two of the most important habits are getting enough sleep and moving our bodies with daily exercise.
When you sleep, your body rests and heals. Kids our age need about 9 to 11 hours of sleep every night to feel great and think clearly.
Daily physical activity keeps your heart, muscles, and bones strong. Playing tag, jumping rope, or riding your bike for 60 minutes a day is perfect for your body.
✏️ Worked example
Let us look at a daily plan for a student named Sam. Identify if Sam's habits are healthy or unhealthy by checking his sleep and activity times.
First, look at Sam's sleep. He went to bed at 9:00 PM and woke up at 7:00 AM. Let us count the hours: 10 hours of sleep. This is in the healthy 9 to 11 hour range!
Next, look at Sam's physical activity. He played soccer for 45 minutes and walked his dog for 15 minutes. Let us add those up: 45 + 15 = 60 minutes of daily activity.
Now, compare his activity to the health goal. The goal is at least 60 minutes of daily activity. Sam reached exactly 60 minutes!
Finally, we explain our findings. Both of Sam's habits help him stay healthy because he got enough rest and stayed active.
