Living things also depend on each other. Plants make food. Bugs eat plants. Frogs eat bugs. This connected path is a food chain.

How do living things depend on each other in a pond food chain?
Step 1: Start with green pond algae. Algae use sunlight to make food.
Step 2: A small fish eats the algae to get energy.
Step 3: A big heron bird eats the small fish.
Step 4: This shows how the bird depends on the fish, and the fish depends on the algae!
