Magnets can pull on metals like iron. Every magnet has two ends called poles. Opposite poles pull together, and same poles push apart.

Electricity flows through a wire in a closed loop. As current moves, it makes an invisible magnetic force all around the wire.
You can build a magnet using power. Wrap a wire around an iron nail. When power flows, the nail becomes a strong magnet!

How can you make a simple electromagnet stronger?
- Get a battery, an iron nail, and insulated wire.
- Wrap the wire around the nail 10 times.
- Connect the wire ends to the battery.
- Test how many paperclips the nail can pick up.
- Wrap 10 more loops of wire around the nail.
- Test again to see that more loops pick up more clips.
