Welcome, space explorer! Today we are going on a journey to look at the giant structures in our universe.
Space is filled with amazing things. Galaxies are giant cities of stars, dust, and gas held together by gravity. Our own galaxy is called the Milky Way.
Stars are born inside giant, glowing clouds of dust and gas called nebulae. Think of a nebula as a cosmic nursery where baby stars light up for the very first time.
Gravity is the glue of the universe. It pulls gas together to make stars, and it keeps billions of stars spinning together in beautiful spiral galaxies.
Imagine you find three cosmic objects: Object A is a glowing cloud of gas creating new stars. Object B is a single hot ball of hydrogen gas. Object C is a massive group of billions of stars spinning together. Sort these objects from smallest to largest.
- Step 1: Identify what each object is. Object A is a cloud of gas making stars, which is a Nebula. Object B is a single star. Object C is a huge group of stars, which is a Galaxy.
- Step 2: Compare their sizes. A single star (Object B) is much smaller than the giant cloud of gas (Object A) that makes many stars.
- Step 3: Compare the nebula to the galaxy. A nebula (Object A) is very large, but a galaxy (Object C) contains millions of nebulae and billions of stars all together.
- Step 4: Arrange them from smallest to largest. The order is: Star (Object B), then Nebula (Object A), and finally Galaxy (Object C).
