Hi! I am Studyfin. Today, we will learn how our government works using a smart plan!
Our government has three parts. We call these parts branches. Each branch has a special job to do.

The first branch makes the laws. We call this branch the Legislative branch. It is made of Congress.
The second branch carries out the laws. This is the Executive branch. The President leads this branch.
The third branch is the Judicial branch. The Supreme Court is the head. They make sure laws are fair.
✏️ Worked example
Imagine an adult helps you make a research plan to study the three branches. How do you follow this plan step by step?
- First, work with your adult partner to write down your main question. Our question is: 'What are the three branches of government?'
- Next, list the places where you will look for answers. You can choose library books and safe school websites.
- Then, gather your facts. Write down one key detail about each of the three branches.
- Finally, check your facts with your adult partner to make sure they are correct and complete.
