Hi there! I am Studyfin. Let's learn how US states are grouped into regions!
The United States has fifty states. We group these states into five main regions. A region is a group of states that share similar land, weather, and history.
We must choose a purpose when we read about these regions. Setting a purpose helps us focus. For example, you might read to find a warm place to visit.
You can share your opinion about your favorite region. To do this, speak clearly and look at your audience. Always use facts to support your opinion.
✏️ Worked example
Let us practice sharing an opinion about a US region. We want to tell a friend why the West region is great. How do we do this?
First, set your purpose. Our purpose is to share a fact-based opinion about the West.
Next, find a fact. The West has giant redwood trees and beautiful mountains.
Form your opinion. You can say, 'I think the West is the most exciting region.'
Add your fact to support it. Say, 'I think this because it has the tallest trees.'
Finally, practice speaking. Look at your friend, smile, and speak in a clear voice.
