- Step 1: Generate a starting question. You think of: 'Who is our mayor?' This is okay, but it is too simple because you can answer it in one word.
- Step 2: Clarify your question to make it better for research. You change it to: 'What are the main duties of our mayor, and how do they help our city?'
- Step 3: Create a research plan with an adult. Write down two steps: First, look at the official city website. Second, read a library book about local leaders.
- Step 4: Check your plan with a teacher or parent to make sure your websites are safe and helpful.
