Numbers help us count, tell our age, and so much more. Let's count in Spanish — los números!
Start with 0 to 10: cero (0), uno (1), dos (2), tres (3), cuatro (4), cinco (5), seis (6), siete (7), ocho (8), nueve (9), diez (10).
Keep going to 15: once (11), doce (12), trece (13), catorce (14), quince (15).
The tens are friendly: diez (10), veinte (20), treinta (30), cuarenta (40), cincuenta (50), and all the way to cien (100).
Numbers 21–29 are one word: veintiuno (21), veintidós (22)… After 30 you use y (and): treinta y uno (31), treinta y dos (32).
✏️ Worked example
How do you say the number 24 in Spanish?
- Find the tens: 20 is veinte.
- Find the ones: 4 is cuatro.
- For 21–29 we write it as one word: veinti + cuatro.
- So 24 = veinticuatro.
