Time management & planning

Grade 7 · Study & Life Skills · Free lesson

Hey there! I am Studyfin, your learning partner. Let's learn how to plan your time and build a great research project together!

When you start a research project, you need a clear plan. A research plan is like a map that shows you what to search for and when to finish each step.

First, you should split your big project into smaller, easy steps. Adult helpers, like your teacher or librarian, can help you decide how much time each step will take.

1. Ask 2. Find 3. Write

Next, you must track your deadlines. Creating a visual timeline keeps you on task so you do not have to rush at the last minute.

✏️ Worked example

Imagine you have a history project due in two weeks. Walk through how to create and follow a step-by-step research plan with an adult's help.

  1. Ask a teacher or parent to help you look at the final goal and the due date.
  2. Break the project into three steps: finding sources, taking notes, and writing the draft.
  3. Assign a mini-deadline to each step so you do not leave all the work for the final night.
  4. Ask your adult helper to check your notes halfway through to make sure you are on the right track.
  5. Review your plan each day to stay organized and finish your project on time.
