Setting clear goals gives you a roadmap. When you break a big project into smaller steps, you can track your progress and stay focused.

Start Step 1 Goal

Courage means trying a new solution even if you might fail. Confidence is trusting the skills you already have, while a growth mindset is the belief that those skills will grow as you practice and learn from mistakes.

Building Confidence
✏️ Worked example

Imagine you are designing a 3D-printable phone stand. Your first print collapses because the support base is too thin. How do you resolve this design challenge independently using goal-setting, courage, and confidence?

  1. Analyze the failure. Instead of giving up, look closely at the collapsed base to find the exact weak point.
  2. Set a clear, measurable goal. Decide to increase the base thickness by three millimeters and test it again by tomorrow.
  3. Show courage by taking action. Do not let the fear of another failed print stop you from starting the next design file.
  4. Build confidence through trial. Remind yourself that every failed print teaches you valuable lessons about balance and material strength.
  5. Test your new design. Print the updated model and observe how the thicker base successfully supports the phone.
