Hi there! Today we will learn how to talk about your favorite foods and drinks in Mandarin Chinese.

In Chinese, the word for food is 'shíwù'. The word for drink is 'yǐnliào'. We can use these words to talk about what we love to eat and drink every day.

Let us learn the word for apple, which is 'píngguǒ'. Apples are sweet, crunchy, and super healthy for you!

Next, let us learn the word for water, which is 'shuǐ'. Water is the most important drink for our bodies to stay active.

Now we can put words together. To say 'I eat apples,' say 'Wǒ chī píngguǒ.' To say 'I drink water,' say 'Wǒ hē shuǐ.' Notice how 'chī' means eat, and 'hē' means drink!

How do you say 'I drink water' in Mandarin? Show each step to build the sentence.

  1. First, find the word for 'I'. In Mandarin, this is 'wǒ'.
  2. Next, find the action word for 'drink'. In Mandarin, this is 'hē'.
  3. Then, find the word for 'water'. In Mandarin, this is 'shuǐ'.
  4. Finally, put the words in the same order as in English: Subject + Action + Object. This gives us: 'Wǒ hē shuǐ!'
