In French, we call colors 'les couleurs'. Just like in English, colors help us describe the world around us. Let's start with three bright colors: red, yellow, and blue.
The French word for red is 'rouge'. Think of a bright red cherry. The word for yellow is 'jaune', like a happy sun!
The French word for blue is 'bleu'. It sounds almost the same as blue, but we spell it with 'eu' at the end!
Now let's apply what we know. If you see a blue sky in France, you can say it is 'bleu'. If you see a red apple, you can say it is 'rouge'!

Let's practice! How do you say 'The yellow sun' in French? Let's figure it out step by step.
- First, find the French word for 'sun'. In French, sun is 'soleil'.
- Next, find the French word for 'yellow'. We learned that yellow is 'jaune'.
- In French, we usually put the color word AFTER the noun. So, 'yellow sun' becomes 'sun yellow'.
- Put the words together: 'soleil jaune'.
- Add the word for 'the', which is 'le' for sun. Now we have: 'le soleil jaune'!
