Hello! Learning to say hi in American Sign Language is fun and easy.

In ASL, you wave your hand to say hello. You place your hand near your forehead and move it out.

To sign HELLO, start with your hand at your temple. Then wave it out like a salute.

Sign: HELLO

To sign MEET, bring both index fingers together. It shows two people coming together.

How do you greet a new friend in ASL?

  1. First, make eye contact and smile.
  2. Next, place your open hand near your forehead.
  3. Then, move your hand out to wave HELLO.
  4. Finally, bring your index fingers together to sign MEET.
